Introduction
We
aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home based on a 2 bedroom
Bed and Breakfast. The house was probably built at the end of the 18th
century and is a Listed Grade II building. There are some aspects of the
design which might make access difficult for those with limited mobility.
The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any
questions not covered in this document, please do not hesitate to call
us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-Arrival
There
is a bus stop opposite the house and there are frequent bus services to
Crewkerne, Beaminster and Bridport.
The main train station is approximately 15 minutes away by car at Crewkerne
(London Waterloo - Exeter line).
There is a local taxi service. If required, we can make a booking for
you.
The written content of brochures and menus can be provided by prior arrangement.
We have a dog (a Border terrier) but, generally, we do not cater for guest's
dogs, however Assistance dogs are welcomed on the basis that the owner
accepts all responsibility for any damage caused. If you do not like dogs,
please tell us in advance and we will do our best to keep our dog away
from you.

Arrival
and Car Parking Facilities
Please
advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure to be
in the house to welcome you.
It takes time to service rooms properly between guests leaving and new
guests arriving. Accordingly, we ask guests generally not to arrive before
3 pm. Earlier arrivals may be possible by prior arrangement.
On arrival at the property there is off-street parking open 24 hours when
the B & B is operating.
There are marked parking bays with ample space for guest's cars.
The surface has a slight slope and the whole area has a tarmac surface.
We can assist guests with their luggage.
The Bed and Breakfast is in the village of Broadwindsor, 2½ miles
from the town of Beaminster.
On the day of departure, we respectfully ask guests to vacate their rooms
by 10.30 am.
Main
Entrance and Reception
The
front door has one 7.5 cm door sill and is 81.5 cm wide.
The front door is always locked and the push-button bell is 141 cm above
ground level.
On entry, the hall is approximately 8.5 metres by 1 metre.
There is an antique monk's bench seat provided in the hallway.
Apart from a short area immediately on entry, which is tiled, the flooring
throughout is carpeted. Please note, there are rugs over the carpet. If
this might be a hazard, please inform us and we will remove the rugs for
the duration of the visit.
Public
Areas - General (Internal)
Our
corridors on the ground floor to the Lounge and Dining Room are approximately
1metre wide.
The corridor has a good colour contrast and is well lit.
The flooring throughout is carpeted. Please note, there are rugs over
the carpet. If this might be a hazard, please inform us and we will remove
the rugs for the duration of the visit.
The covering on the stairs and upstairs landing area is carpeted.
A dog water bowl and food bowl (and food if requested in advance) for
an Assistance Dog are available on request.
Breakfast is served in the Dining Room, which is on the ground floor.
There is one step followed by 9 stairs to a landing followed by a further
3 stairs to the first floor landing, which leads to the bedrooms.
The first step is 16 cm high by 125 cm wide. The stairs are 21.5 cm high,
by 21.5 cm deep, 90 cm wide.
There is a downstairs toilet that can be made available to guests during
the day and evening.
The house is fully centrally heated and temperatures can be adjusted in
the bedrooms to suit individual requirements.
Public
Areas - Dining Room and Lounge
Breakfast
is served in the Dining Room on the ground floor. There are no steps.
The furniture can be moved with prior notice of any special requirement.
The table is an antique expanding table and has a minimum under space
of 58 cm high and a maximum of 70.5 cm high and a height of 72 cm. There
are six legs.
Menus can be provided in large print, by prior arrangement.
The flooring in the lounge is carpeted. Please note, there are rugs over
the carpet. If this might be a hazard, please inform us and we will remove
the rugs for the duration of the visit.
In the lounge there are upholstered easy chairs and a large upholstered
sofa.
We do not play background music in any area of the Bed and Breakfast.
There are no televisions in the public areas.

There
are two bedrooms, both on the first floor.
There are en-suite facilities in both rooms consisting of a bath with
a hair- washing shower attachment, a W.C. and wash basin.
Tea and coffee making facilities are provided.
There is a fridge stocked with fresh milk and bottled water.
There is a flat-screen television with 'Freeview'.
There is also a hair-dryer, alarm radio, emergency torch and a selection
of books and magazines.
A welcome folder is provided in the room, which contains a short history
of the house, further information about the Bed & Breakfast and the
area around, including contact numbers for local doctors etc. Brochures
of various local attractions are also provided.
The
Green Bedroom
There
is one step followed by 9 stairs to a landing followed by a further 3
stairs to the first floor landing, which leads to the bedrooms.
The first step is 16 cm high by 125 cm wide. The stairs are 21.5 cm high,
by 21.5 cm deep, 90 cm wide.
The door width is 72.5 cm, inward opening.
Can be either a double bedded room or a twin bedded room.
There is an 86 cm route one side of the bed and a maximum of 60 cm on
the other side (double bed set up).
Apart from a fitted wardrobe, furniture is moveable on request.
Beds are 64 cm high, but can be raised on blocks on request and with notice.
Television features 'Freeview' and is remote controlled.
There is a digital alarm radio.
One upright chair and a standard sofa are provided in the room.
An electric hair dryer is provided.
An oscillating fan for cooling is provided.
There is an en-suite bathroom with a hair wash shower head.

the carpet. If this might be a hazard, please inform us and we will remove
the rugs for the duration of the visit.

Blue Bedroom
There

There is a 120 cm route one side of the bed and a maximum of 85 cm on
the other side (double bed set up). Across the bed end there is a minimum
of 46 cm.
Apart from a fitted wardrobe, furniture is moveable on request.
Beds are 64 cm high, but can be raised on blocks on request and with notice.
Television features 'Freeview' and is remote controlled.
There is a digital alarm radio.
Two easy chairs are provided in the room.

Grounds
and Gardens
We
have two small enclosed gardens, which guests are welcome to use. One
has a paved surface and the other has a flower border, gravel path, lawn
and features two ornamental fish ponds. Both are for guests to sit in
(benches available). The larger garden is suitable for letting a dog out
if required. The village is set in very beautiful rural countryside and
there are many most attractive walks. This is hill country, so it is important
to bear in mind that walks can involve quite strenuous exercise. Stout
shoes are recommended.

Assistance
dogs are welcomed on the basis that the owner accepts all responsibility
for any damage caused.
Mobile phone reception is generally poor. Occasional reasonable use of
our land line can be made available.
The fire alarm system was upgraded in March 2007. All bedrooms are equipped
with a linked fire alarm system. There are also sensors on all floors
of the house and in the kitchen. In the event of a fire, these sensors
emit a strident high pitch note. If you are hard of hearing or think for
any reason you might not hear them, please tell us in advance and we will
be glad to assist you.
There is a fire extinguisher in the hall, next to the kitchen door, and
on the first floor, adjacent to the doors leading to the guest's bedrooms.
In the event of an evacuation, we are able to use the front and back doors.
In this event, we will call you. If you need assistance for evacuating,
please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely.
e.g. hearing impairment.
We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment. Please let us know in
good time the name of the hire company and their telephone number.
We are, by law, a no smoking building.
We are happy to cater for special diets or (within reason) any particular
likes and dislikes. Please advise us of these before your arrival.
We supply a small drinks fridge in the rooms, which can be used for medication/food
and we can put larger items in our main fridge on request (not available
24 hours).
